As the principle design lead within a HCI lab and researcher I was responsible for co-ordinating and delivering cross-sector participatory design-led research projects including;

 

  • Experience centred co-design and public consultations with Gateshead Council, Newcastle Council for Voluntary Service, Nexus and community partners.

 

  • Automation of productions and labelling using embedded sensor technology with BBC R&D and Microsoft Research.

 

  • Management of the in-house Makerspace facilities,training and support & workhops that house 3D printers, laser cutters and rapid protoyping equipment.
  • Member of USB Safety Commitee Meetings to ensure all documentation, health and Safety and induction protocols are adhered too and maintained.
  • Induction and tutorial delivery to Masters cohorts, training them to use Adobe Creative cloud software to laser cut and 3D print.

  • Developed 3D models and UI visuals for marketing, reducing time-to-launch across new product lines.
  • Created DFM-ready prototypes that lowered production defects from 12% to 5% while improving device usability and visual consistency.
